Dalia awarded European of the Year 2025

On May 8, 2025, the board of European Movement Finland selected Dalia Stasevska, documentary filmmaker-cellist Lukas Stasevskij, and journalist-pianist Justas Stasevskij as recipients of the European of the Year Award for 2025. The award was presented at the Europe Day reception in Helsinki.

The European of the Year Award, granted annually as part of European Movement Finland's Europe Day celebrations, is awarded to a person or persons who, through their actions, promote European values, international cooperation, and democracy in Finland, Europe, and globally.

Earlier this year, European Movement Finland opened a public nomination process for the award. The board selected Dalia and her siblings as awardees, citing their dedicated efforts in highlighting the importance of supporting Ukraine and organizing various fundraising campaigns for Ukraine, especially through the means of art and music.

Vice-President of European Movement Finland, Nils Torvalds, says, "This year, the recognition goes to three exceptional siblings. The Stasevskijs, each in their own field but also together, have highlighted the importance of supporting Ukraine and shown how art, media, and culture can serve as powerful tools to communicate solidarity and hope. Through organizing numerous fundraising campaigns and dedicating their professional skills to support Ukraine, the Stasevskijs deserve special appreciation for their work. With this award, we want to thank the Stasevskijs for their contribution to Ukraine and remind all Finns that European values are not a given - they must be defended through our actions and everyday choices"
